Sonsoles play to the runners at mile 7 (and mile 12 1/2 on the way back) at the LA Rock and Roll Marathon
We interrupt this previously scheduled Tumblr neglect to let you know that Desert Noises’ full-length album is now available for digital consumption. Overlook all of my posts as much as you want, but please don’t overlook this one. Such an amazing album.
Desert Noises - “Smoke Breathing Monsters”
Saturday afternoon, downtime, song.
I LOVE THIS SONG. Seriously, the last bridge totally destroys me, especially on the proper recording. Not sure what happened to this album’s release or when to expect it now that 9/6 has come and gone. You’ll definitely hear from me when it does.
The Swell Season - “Into the Mystic” (Van Morrison cover)
This might be the absolute most perfect Sunday night song.
Austin Gibbs - “Cut Me Off”
Sunday evening, itching for Arizona, song.
It’s about that time. One last weekend before taking off for AZ on Wednesday. Getting family, friends and food I miss for a solid four days. I never had to be an adult in Arizona and I don’t plan on starting now with this trip. Let’s party.
Blind Pilot - “New York”
Sunday morning, I LOVE THIS ALBUM, song.
As happens every year, I think that I have my top 10 albums list in line by August, and there’s always a curve ball. Between this one, new Desert Noises next week, new Ryan Adams and potentially a new Bowerbirds, I need to stop counting my chickens … or whatever.
ARMS - “Eyeball”
Sunday evening, homesick?, song.
Oddly enough, through the many (MANY) tweets I followed from friends in NYC, it actually made me miss it, for the first time since leaving. I’ve had a lot of homes in 25 years, and this song in particular feels like New York to me.
